The situation
Steel mills are among the hardest environments in industry for sensing: heat, steam, dust, and vibration degrade or defeat conventional optical measurement. Keeping moving material centered on the line still depends on reliable, continuous position measurement — and no off-the-shelf package covers the whole problem from sensor to working line.
What we did
How it works
Working with the client, we carried the system end to end. We assessed the equipment needs against the mill environment, selected the radar hardware suited to conditions where cameras and lasers fail, and engineered the electrical and hardware systems around it. We wired the API integration with the tooling so measurement flowed into the systems that act on it, and wrote all of the software behind the system — acquisition, processing, and the logic that turns raw radar returns into centering decisions.
Outcome
A complete, commissioned centering system: sensing technology matched to the environment it lives in, integrated electrically and digitally, installed and brought live on the line — with every layer of software behind it built by us.
